Excuse me as I take a break from my regular posts of Bagginshield angst and vintage erotica to have a vintage fashion freak out moment!
I managed to buy this vintage printed rayon blazer and dress set for ONLY $25. Guys, this stuff normlly goes for over $100. ANYWAYS.
This set was made at an Atlantic City, NJ dressmaker during WWII. After the war, longer lengths came back into fashion because fabric rationing was lifted. In order to keep this set fashionable the previous owner brought the dress back to the dressmaker and had the black panel inserted at the waist through the hip in order to make the dress longer.
I honestly feel so honored to be able to wear this little piece of history because the dress does tell a story of how the war affected not only those on the front lines but those on the homefront as well.

Well i’m gonna tell you about my day working with Sara of sararavintage at the Manhattan Vintage show!
First of all, this woman has impeccable taste in vintage. And she has EVERYTHING. I mean Edwardian jackets in almost perfect condition to 80’s Gucci shirts. Don’t even get me started on the jewelry. It’s her first love so she only picks the most beautiful and unique pieces. I wanted to take everything home.
She’s also a sweetheart. I cried because after I had been admiring a simple knitted cream colored shawl, she took it off the hanger and handed it to me. She said I could take it, that I deserved something for all the hard work I’d be doing for the day and to have something to start my collection off with. Now it’s not really old or anything but it meant so much to me that she’d care enough about me to give me a gift.
I learned so so much from her, while showing pieces to customers she went through what was special and meaningful so I could understand why she chose it. She gave me tips on what to look for, how to shop smart and she’s going to send me websites, stores and books that all will help me learn more.
To put it simply guys, I think I found my mentor.
And I am so freaking excited.
Life is so good.
The gals and I last night at The Battle of the Big Bands on the USS Intrepid in NYC.
We saw lots of folks wearing beautiful vintage clothing and dancing their tails off! A swell night was had by all!

Interesting vintage snapshots capture people posing with beer in the past.
Dear lord, save me and my wallet from vintage temptation. (Only not really)
“Carrie is the funniest girl I ever met,” Hamill says. “She makes me laugh, almost always, and she has a great sense of humor about herself. She doesn’t take herself seriously, which would probably be very easy for her to do. I actually didn’t know how the Princess was going to be. I did the whole hologram scene before I even met her. So Carrie comes in and she’s like Carole Lombard: beautiful to look at, but with a sense of humor.”
Tonight is the grand opening of my very own Etsy shop, Cat Eye Class Vintage! The store is filled with vintage clothing and accessories(40s-60s and sometimes the 70s and 80s) for women!
